Stuck in a World of Grey

Timeless, classical and versatile; grey is still an incredibly popular colour choice for home décor. Which ever colour scheme you choose, it’s fair to say that there will be a shade of grey that will work with most colours. If you find it hard to be creative with your interior choices, you can easily find yourself stuck in a world of grey.
Luckily, there are now plenty of options of flooring and carpets, specifically created to work with grey interiors. Having a grey kitchen no longer means you have to have a grey floor. So where do you start?
Firstly, it can help to establish the tone of your chosen colour scheme. Have you chosen a warm or cool colour? All colours can be cool or warm. Grey can come in many different tones with purple, blue, yellow and even green hues. If you are struggling to determine this, it can help to place samples of different colours next to your chosen décor. Having samples of anything you have chosen (kitchen, sofa, tiles etc) can really help to visualise the overall look of your home.
Think outside the box
Don’t be afraid to consider all possibilities. Take along samples of any decisions you have already made, to your flooring showroom. Try everything! Light oak, dark walnut, patterned tiles, or brightly coloured carpets… the world is your oyster! You may find the least likely option ends up being the perfect match.

If you’re still feeling a little bit lost, determining the theme and over all feel of your home can help you narrow it down. Do you like rustic, bold and characterful? Or do you prefer clean, simple and fresh designs? Try pairing up designs that work within your preferred theme. There is plenty of choice out there to help you achieve the theme you are looking for.
Once you have picked out a few ideas for your flooring, if possible, borrow a sample to view it in the natural light of home. Afterall, this is where it is going to be installed. This way you can put all of your samples together and get a feel for what it might look like.
