With carpet brands, do I get what I pay for?

Selecting a new carpet for your home or business can be a pricy purchase. You want your carpet to be a long-lasting investment – something you won’t need to worry about replacing anytime soon.

We’re sure it’s no surprise that a cheap carpet is likely to be less pleasing to the eye and more prone to wear and tear. Low-cost brands will need replacing more often, so although you spend a little less in the short term, they can be less cost-effective long term.

But choosing a good quality carpet doesn’t have to break the bank. There are plenty of fantastic, high-quality carpet options in the mid-range price bracket.

At Beyond Flooring, we carefully select quality carpets from reputable carpet brands that we are genuinely proud to offer our customers.

We appreciate that everyone has a different idea of how they like their home, so we enjoy offering a range of styles to suit all tastes – from plain and classic styles to eclectic patterns and eye-grabbing textures.

Stoddard

The Stoddard Natural World collection is a great example of how a good carpet brand made from quality materials can increase durability, cosiness and comfort.

This collection has a 100% wool loop with 3-ply yarn, making it incredibly soft and comfortable underfoot. Wool is a top-quality carpet material that is proven to last.

With a tog rating of 1.83, it’s one of the warmest materials to walk, relax and play on, making it a perfect addition to any bedroom, playroom, living room or hallway in the home.

This range is available in various plain textured colourways, including Ash Blonde, Almond, Feather, Mercury, Rocky Coast, and French Silver, so there’s something to suit every taste.

Crucial Trading

Crucial Trading was established in 1986, so it’s safe to say they’ve been in the game long enough to build a good reputation. They have over 100 different floor covering options and created the trend of a combination of wool and sisal.

If you are more drawn to patterns and like to express a quirky, Bohemian style in your home, take a peek at the award-winning Fabulous Collection. Bold patterns have been slowly creeping back into fashion, and this collection of enchanting carpets features beautiful striped zig-zag designs that capture the eye for all the right reasons.

This range is also made from 100% wool with a textured loop, making it warm and soft for any home. But the softness doesn’t stop it from being hard-wearing – this is a carpet that can withstand the hustle and bustle of a busy family home without becoming visibly worn and damaged.

Hugh Mackay

Hugh Mackay carpets are another British brand we are proud to sell. In business for over 100 years, they have built a fantastic reputation and even have ties to the Royal Family. To this day, they are still growing and producing new styles and ranges.

If you like a more traditional style with stunning but subtle patterns, you’ll love the Cathedral Collection. This range is constructed from woven Axminster (80% wool, 20% nylon or 100% wool) and comes in a variety of stunning patterned colours. You can feel confident in the luxurious quality of this carpet range.

If you prefer something a little funkier and vibrant, take a browse at the Deco Collection Zig Zag carpets. Colours range from the uber bright and vibrant Kingston and Notting Hill patterns to more subtle neutral tones such as Westminster and Woodland.

Riviera Home

Riviera Home was established in Panipat, India, and since 1978 they have been creating top-quality textiles for customers worldwide – you can rest assured this brand is well-known and well-loved in the industry.

Riviera carpets offer the perfect blend of style, texture, and colour to enhance your house and create a space that makes you feel at home.

The Florence Collection is made from 100% blended heather-dyed wool, with hand-woven large chunky basket weave loops that make it super comfortable and soft. It’s ideal for any room in the home, from hallways to bedrooms, with its two-tone woven design that will make a strong statement without taking the focus away from the rest of your decor.

Another gorgeous collection from this brand is the Burford Collection. The carpets in this range are made from 100% natural undyed wool, and there are six colour options, all with a gorgeous rustic vibe. It is high on the tog rating at 2.56, making it highly insulating to keep your home warm.

Summary

It is always better to purchase your carpet from a trusted and respected brand. Knowing a little about the brand’s history and reading customer reviews can reassure you that you’re making the right decision.

Opting for a reputable brand doesn’t mean you’ll be paying ridiculous prices. A mid-range carpet can last just as long as its more expensive counterparts if installed correctly, and you follow the manufacturer’s guidance for cleaning.

Look for carpets made with high-quality, stain-resistant materials such as wool or nylon. High-pile carpets work well in homes, whereas a low-pile carpet is your best bet for commercial areas with a lot of traffic.

It’s also a good idea to have your carpets professionally fitted for maximum longevity.
